on-site milling
We provide onsite milling services for timber that cannot be easily transported or is best processed at source.
This allows large or inaccessible material to be converted into useable timber directly on location.
On-site milling significantly reduces the need to trans[ort large volumes of timber, lowering disruption to the flora and ground, while also lowering fuel consumption and associated emissions. This process give us access to timber that would normally be left to decompose in the location it fell.
Processing timber on-site allows it to remain connected to its place of origin, which is important for projects requiring traceable materials and a clear narrative. This also reduced reliance on externally sourced timber, while preserving the natural character and scale of the original structure.
01
- Review of timber size, species, and condition
- Site access and working area
- Confirmation of required outputs and dimentions
02
- Position of equipment relative to the timber
- Establishing safe working zones and access routes
- Preparation of timber for milling where required
03
- Conversion into slabs, beams, or custom sections
- Controlled Cutting based on intended use
- ongoing adjustment to suit material characteristics
04
- Stacking and organisation of milled timber
- Preparation for on-site use, storage, or transport
- Removal or retention of material as agreed
We operate with a clear, practical approach to on-site milling, supported by hands-on experience in handling large timber and working within varied site conditions. Each project is assessed individually, with decisions made based on the material, access, and intended outcome rather than a fixed process.
Timber is milled at source removing the need to transport large or impractical material. This allows logs that would otherwise be difficult to handle to be converted efficiently into useable sections.
Suitable for a range of environments including private land, estates, development sites, and woodland. Equipment can be positioned to work within restricted or non-standard access conditions.
On-site enables full use of available timber, reducing waste and allowing more of the tree to be retained and repurposed for future use.
Timber can be specified and milled in line with the requirements of a wider project.
